Recent updates to the Aadhaar Authentication for GST registration process have introduced new requirements for applicants in Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal. Here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process.

1. Amendment to Rule 8 of the CGST Rules, 2017:
   • The amendment allows applicants to be identified on the GST portal through Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication. This involves taking a photograph of the applicant and verifying the original documents uploaded with the application.
2. Implementation in Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal:
   • GSTN has developed and rolled out the functionality for Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication in these regions starting August 2, 2024.
3. Document Verification and Appointment Booking:
   • After submitting the GST registration application (Form GST REG-01), applicants will receive an email with one of the following links:
     • OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication: Applicants can proceed with the existing process.
     • Appointment Booking for Biometric Authentication: Applicants must book an appointment to visit a designated GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) for Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication and document verification.

Detailed Procedures:

4. Procedure for OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication:
   • If you receive an OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication link, you can continue with the registration process as per the existing guidelines.
5. Procedure for Biometric-based Authentication:
   • If you receive a link for appointment booking, use it to schedule a visit to the designated GSK. The confirmation of the appointment will be sent via email.
6. Required Documents for GSK Visit:
   • Appointment confirmation email (hard/soft copy)
   • Jurisdiction details from the intimation email
   • Original Aadhaar Card and PAN Card
   • Original documents uploaded with the application

Biometric Authentication Process:

7. Biometric Authentication at GSK:
   • GSK will conduct Biometric authentication and document verification for all individuals listed in the GST application Form REG-01.
8. Appointment Scheduling:
   • Book your biometric verification appointment within the period specified in the intimation email. ARNs will be generated upon completing the Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication and document verification.
9. Availability of Appointment Booking:
   • The appointment booking feature is now available for GST registration applicants in Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal.
10. GSK Operation Hours:
    • GSK operation days and hours will follow the administrative guidelines of your respective state.
